Product Design: Bing Homepage Refresh ( Proposal )

It’s true that more and more users are bypassing the homepage, we still believe that the Homepage is an essential component of Bing’s business. Because the homepage is not a search result page, we have flexibility and freedom which translates into a unique opportunity to thoughtfully craft an experience that showcases the Bing voice and the Bing brand. We worked close with editorial group and user research team, bring the editorial voice to Bing homepage. Here are some proposal options.

Design goal:

1. Show the user something amazing about our world
2. Show the user what’s important right now at a glance
3. Show user what happened on this day in history
4. Give the user a quick, fun break
5. Feed the user insatiable curiosity

Base on the design goal, we created and selected the modules included in this design refresh. For example, Top stories, My Interests, On this day in history, Daily Quiz, etc.

With selected modules, we designed four different interaction options.

     After a couple around of the design update, we drop the Tabbed and Linear options. Moving forward with only Offset Card and Right Rail options.
